In 2019, I accompanied the Director of my company to a conference on Genome Research and Genetic Engineering in Athens, Greece. It was an enthralling experience that urged us to attend another International Meet on Genetic Engineering Applications and Modification in Paris, France where we also networked with Genetic experts from across different countries. Attending 2 global conferences in the span of 6 months has highly motivated me to study at an internationally recognized university and go beyond my horizons to gain the required skills. I am currently working at The Gene Box and was promoted to Senior Biotech Engineer in late 2020. The new role is both challenging and interesting.
I also completed a course ‘Classical Papers on Molecular Genetics’ offered by Coursera and created by the University of Geneva, Switzerland which is a 12-week comprehensive course with 12 modules that discuss a variety of topics and research papers on Molecular Genetics.
My career journey has brought me to an ideal junction to pursue a Master’s in Biotechnology and enhance my conceptual understanding. I aim to continue my education through a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics after completing my Master’s. In the long run, I am keen to work on projects that involve, Bio-Engineering, Genetic Engineering, Proteomics, and improving methods for Genetic Mapping. I want to be part of the innovative research and development of genetic editing tools such as ZFNs, TALENs LEAPER, and CRISPR-Cas9. I believe that Biotechnology has been an area with great potential and tremendous scope for research in the near future. What amazes me the most about this field is the advantages biotechnology research can benefit many sectors, striving to improve the quality of human life and the curability of diseases.
